Portfolio site of artist Judith Jansen. Bachelor of fine arts, the human body is an important subject in her work, both the inside as the outside.My research is about identity. It's about struggles between; soft-hard, attraction-subtraction, beauty-ugliness. All these tensions are to be found in ones identity; both body and manner. These contradictions become visible in the use of materials, such as: Metal- wool, Lycra- latex. The sculptures are like bodies or characters; they have a very strong personality: Either they will attract you or disgust and subtract you. I'm trying to express contradictions in an organism and its sexuality.
